With Thanksgiving rapidly approaching we have been discussing various things we are thankful to have in our lives. Be on the look out in their folders today for their Thankful Turkey books.
We spent time this morning brainstorming and then drawing five things we are thankful for and then the students tried to write the sounds they heard in the word. Each student had different things they were thankful for, but each idea was genuine and heartfelt. Some students even asked if they could add more things they were thankful for on their turkey's feathers. I am very thankful for this very sweet and thoughtful group of 21 kindergarteners that are in my class this year.

The students have loved sharing how they disguised their turkeys so that we could save them from being "eaten" for Thanksgiving! I think its safe to say that the Royals baseball team have taken us on a fun ride this season...and it may be the most popular turkey disguise.
for I hope you all have a fun-filled Thanksgiving break spent with friends and family. When we return from break we will continue working hard to finish the 2nd Quarter of kindergarten strong. We will be finishing up the last few letters of the alphabet, continue reading groups, and will be learning about shapes and measurement in math. It will seem a whirlwind with all of the excitement and anticipation that the holiday season brings to the kids.
Thank you again for all of your support both at home and at school. I am excited for you to see how much they have learned this quarter. It is so fun to see how proud the students are as they begin reading and recognizing there are "sight" words and math concepts (shapes & numbers) surrounding us every single day.
Enjoy your long break next week and Happy Thanksgiving!
