First of all, I want to thank everyone that participated in parent teacher conferences last week. It was fun and exciting to share with you the progress of each and every one of your children. They have been working very hard the first nine weeks and have already made great progress and I can't see the progress in the next nine weeks! :)
The letter E sound is always very tricky for the students to grasp, so this week we had an "egg" hunt around the room. Within each egg were letters. A majority of the eggs were filled with letter e's, while others were filled with miscellaneous letters that we have already learned. Once the students found an egg they practiced the "e" sound as they opened the egg. If they had the lucky "e" they were suppose to stand up on the carpet. We also learned that when Miss McCandless forgets to put letters in some of the eggs that those eggs were "empty" and that also starts with an "e." The class had a blast and were even more excited that they got to hide the eggs before we did our next round of searching. Below are some pictures...enjoy! "Ready, set, GO....."

Yesterday, we began learning about the letter H as we read a book about a magic hat. Today the kids worked on writing a sentence that began with an uppercase letter, had "finger spaces" between words, ended with a period. We then counted eight strips of paper and made hats out of our sentences. The students loved looking at themselves in the mirror to see the different hats!
Next week we will have a busy week as it is Red Ribbon Week (Spirit Week) and concluding with our first Halloween Party here at school. We have many great parent volunteers that have been working hard on preparing a snack, a cute craft, and a game. Thank you to everyone who has been working hard with that, I really appreciate it and the kiddos will next week too! This is a reminder that our party will begin on Friday October 30th at 2:00 and will end roughly around 2:45. All parents are welcome to attend. Please remember to bring enough candy for 21 students if you signed up to do so! We ask that if it is at all possible that younger siblings not attend the party as we will have a room full of 21 excited kindergarteners! If siblings need to come, please remember that our great room parents have only accounted for 21 students for the snack, craft and games. Please let me know if you have any concerns!
